568 respondents to an Accountability Lab survey estimated that approximately 14,106 local sub-grantees and sub-contractors would be impacted as a result of the stop work orders. More than 20% of non-profit respondents reported that 100% of their budgets were impacted by the freeze.
Thousands of women a year depend on us for family planning, 90% being rural poor women. Many who relied on the government healthcare centers to get mosquito nets, will come to us so we will run out of our separately procured supply of nets. HIV-positive patients and staff will have interruptions or stoppages of their access to ARVs and that will be a death sentence for them!
